Curlvana Products Review: India’s New CG-Friendly Brand

The Curly Girl Method can be very confusing at times. There are so many types of curly, wavy, and coiled hair, with different porosity levels, that finding a suitable product seems like solving an algebra problem. 2B, 4A, and 3C are different types of curls and wait there are many others as well, this is just an example. After a lot of research, I found out that I have 2C curls, which fall into the half-curly, half-wavy category. After this epiphany, I set out to find the correct Indian curly hair routine to embark on my curly hair journey.

The research did not end here, I went through the description of a variety of products to finally settle down on a CG-approved range in India. A new brand called Curlvana has some really cool products and I am using their entire range. It takes a lot to impress me, and I must say, that Curlvana has been pretty successful at that. This is why I thought of publishing my review so that everyone can take notice of this brand.

Curlvana Products Review: India’s New CG-Friendly Brand

What does Curlvana stand for?

Curlvana is a brand specially designed for curly-haired people. A curly-haired person goes through many challenges – managing them being the biggest one. If broken down further – dry hair, frizz, following and surviving wash days, and application of multiple products are some of the dominant everyday trials they go through. Curlvana is the call of freedom and embracing as well as carrying your curls unapologetically! Be proud, bold, quirky, and your natural self with your curls.

No more straightening, keratin, cysteine, etc. Be natural, be you, Be curly!”

To add to that information, Curlvana is India’s first glycerine-free range for Indian curly hair. They have put a lot of research into choosing the right ingredients for their products. This lineup claims to solve the problem of frizz in curly hair because it nourishes curls and reduces dryness. They are a cruelty-free, eco-friendly brand with dermatologically approved products. The range comprises 5 products as of now, and I have used all of them.

Curlvana Ultimate Kit Review

I have used Curlvana’s products specialized for Indian curly hair for about 3 weeks now and I am ready with my opinions.

The Shampoo – Curivana Product Review

Product Name: Curlvana Fortifying Curl Cleanse

Brand Claims: “A gentle hair cleanser that removes grime, sebum, and buildup without stripping the strands of their natural moisture. It nourishes the hair while encouraging curl definition and shine without weighing it down. Enriched with proteins, it fortifies and revitalizes the tresses.”

Price: Rs 599

Size and Packaging: It comes in a tube packaging, consisting of 200ml of the product

Main Ingredients: Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Plant Protein, Fermented Rice Water Extract, Pentavitin, Shea Butter

My experience: This is a gentle cleanser. It doesn’t lather much but does the job of cleaning my hair and scalp. I don’t know if it has reduced hair breakage because it is too soon to tell. Overall, this shampoo makes my wash day easy by not overly drying the hair, while imparting a fresh feeling to my scalp.

The Conditioner – Curivana Product Review

Product Name: Curl Shine Gentle Conditioner

Brand Claims: Formulated to detangle, define and hydrate curly locks without weighing them down, this intensely moisturizing curl conditioner uniformly quenches every strand for bouncy, voluminous, healthy, and defined curls.”

Price: Rs 599

Size and Packaging:  It comes in a tube packaging, consisting of 200ml of the product

Main Ingredients: Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Fermented Rice Water Extract, Vitamin B5, Coffee CO2, Geranium

My experience: It’s a light conditioner, great for fine hair, as it doesn’t weigh the hair down, while still nourishing the curls. It has improved my curl pattern and adds nice bounce and volume.

The Leave-in Conditioner – Curivana Product Review

Product Name: Curl Styling Leave-in Cream

Brand Claims: “Designed to ease frizz this leave-in cream promotes incredibly soft, detangled curls without leaving a crunchy residue. Perfect to add shine and definition to dry, unruly, tresses it adds bounce while smoothening every strand.”

Price: Rs 749

Size and Packaging:  It comes in a tube packaging, consisting of 200ml of the product

Main Ingredients: Jamaican black castor oil, fermented rice water extract, geranium, and coffee

My experience: This product has a very silky consistency, that glides over the hair easily. It helps in detangling my hair while adding a lot of bounce and shine. The best part is, it lives up to the claims of easing frizz because my curls look fresh even on day 2.

The Hair Gel – Curivana Product Review

Product Name: Curl Defining Styling Gel

Brand Claims: “This lightweight gel coats hair evenly to provide flexible hold while deeply conditioning curly strands, without causing any buildup. It amplifies the curl pattern for ultimate definition and improved manageability.”

Price: Rs 699

Size and Packaging:  It comes in a tube packaging, consisting of 200ml of the product

Main Ingredients: Flaxseed, geranium, coffee, Hyaluronic acid, and mint

My experience: This hair gel doesn’t provide a strong hold, instead it evenly coats the hair and adds definition. It separates the curls and gives a soft hold so that the curl pattern remains intact on the 2nd and 3rd day after wash. I never used to apply hair gels, but this one is excellent to keep my curls in place. I use it every wash day, for an added shine and bounce.

The Hair Mask – Curivana Product Review

Product Name: Deep Nourish Hair Mask

Brand Claims: “Created specifically for ultra-dry and dull hair, this decadent, buttery hair mask intensely moisturizes curls, to transform them into soft, bouncy, perfectly-defined ringlets. It deeply conditions the hair for brilliant shine and frizz control.”

Price: Rs 749

Size and Packaging:  It comes in a tube packaging, consisting of 200ml of the product

Main Ingredients: Jamaican black castor oil, fermented rice water extract, hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera

My experience: I use this hair mask on the weekends when I have the time to indulge in some self-care. I use it after shampooing and keep it on for about 30 minutes while I do a facial massage and scrub my body. This mask makes my hair incredibly smooth and super soft, and I love how it revives my curls after a long week of wear and tear. I don’t find the need to oil my hair because this mask does the needful of making my hair healthy and glossy.

The Final Word – Curivana Product Review

Curlvana is a good brand for people looking for products for Indian curly hair. Those with wavy and coiled hair will enjoy their products as well. I am certainly going to repurchase Curlvana’s ultimate kit once I run out, and that statement is enough to testify how much I like this range. Finally, we have a good curl-care range to cater to Indian curly hair. Kudos to Curlvana!

  1. Though I was born with straight hair I love to have curls and hence have to get them permed. This looks like a good way to maintain my curls. I had tried Arata products but they led to intense hair fall and I had to finally chop off my waist-long hair to shoulder level. Will give this a try too.

  2. I am hearing about this brand for the first time. Their products look amazing and pocket friendly. I would definitely suggest to my girls with curly hair. Thank you for introducing us to this brand. Great work

  3. Maintaining curly hair is difficult and so is finding the right product to take care of it. This range seems to be promising one.

Heard about this product but after reading your article and review. I’m so impressed with it. This product seems very promising.
