Review Of Freddy – The Plot
At the centre of the plot of Freddy is a reputed Parsi Dentist named Freddy Ginwala. A man who in many ways echoes the angst of life in a metro and the feeling of loneliness with which many can identify. So our protagonist has done well for himself, at least materialistically, as he has a successful dental practice.
He however seems to have missed the bus when it comes to finding a soulmate. But he hasn’t given up and is trying to put his best foot forward. His favourite pastime when he is not in his clinic is looking for and meeting prospective soulmates with the help of a matrimonial site. But the shadow of childhood trauma has made Freddy socially uncomfortable and lacking in confidence.
In the meanwhile, he has his only friend Hardy to give him company in his somewhat gloomy home. By the by, Hardy is a turtle! He also has two well-wishing aunts who call him up frequently to know about his welfare.
The days and nights of loneliness seem to have ended when Freddy meets Kainaaz Irani, and the sparks seem to fly. There is only one problem. Kainaaz’s husband! What happens next, do they live happily together, ever after? You would need to watch the movie to find out the subplots that steer the story to its logical finale.
Freddy Movie Review – Cast And Performances
Freddy the movie is buoyed by some excellent performances. Carrying the movie on his shoulders is Kartik Aaryan who plays Dr. Freddy Ginwala, a character, who is shaky and hesitant with great confidence. Kartik quickly transforms from a nerdy and hesitant character to a cool cat who does what he sets out to do, with the meticulous precision of a surgeon. He brings alive with sizzling panache the different shades of Dr. Freddy Ginwala, vulnerability, pathos, ruthlessness, and chilling confidence.
Though the shadow of Kartik looms large in every frame of the movie, Alaya F brings alive the different and subtle nuances of Kainaaz Irani with great skill. She too is able to bring the different shades of her character from innocent desperation to cool confidence to the fore with consummate ease.
The other members of the cast too chip in with good performances.
