The plot of TVF’s Aspirants revolves around the story of three friends who come together while preparing for the UPSC Civil Services. The story is mainly set in the Old Rajinder Nagar locality of West Delhi. The area is a hub of activity for UPSC aspirants with a number of IAS coaching institutes. The neighborhood is full of IAS aspirants slogging it out for realizing their dreams and ambitions. Old Rajinder Nagar is known as the Mecca of UPSC, just like Kota is known as the Mecca for IIT.

The three friends who are the aspirants for the Civil Services are Abhilash, SK, and Guri. Of these, it is Abhilash’s last chance to crack the prelims as he has exhausted his number of attempts. The three friends bond over coaching classes, cups of chai, and the unrelenting pressure that is on them.

The plot goes back and forth across time and weaves the emotions of ambition, frustration, love, triumph, and failure into a realistic and relatable story. Destiny brings the three of them together again, under different circumstances. The question is who has succeeded and who has failed? What is the measure of success? Is cracking the Civil Services really worth all the effort and frustration? The story attempts to answer these and many other questions that haunt the “Aspirants”.
