Review Of Dil Bechara-Disney + Hotstar

The film Dil Bechara released amidst the rising wave of questions and the intriguing and tragic circumstances surrounding the unnatural and untimely death of Sushant Singh Rajput. The film Dil Bechara is based on a 2014 Hollywood film named, “The Fault in Our Stars“. The film has been received enthusiastically and the story of the film finds resonance with the audience.

The Plot of Dil Bechara

The plot of Dil Bechara is refreshingly set in the city of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. The story is about a young couple, Kizie and Manny. A chance encounter between the two changes the course of their lives. They fall in love and are swept away on the wings of romance. But what differentiates the love story of Kizie and Manny is the spectre of the tragedy that looms threateningly around them. But the film is not about the tragedy but the way the two live life to the full in the face of the destiny that awaits them around the bend in time.

The couple steals moments from time to build a relationship that is sweet. Kizie or Kizie Basu is like any other young girl, bubbly, and fond of music with dreams in her eyes. But she is weighed down by the weight of an oxygen cylinder which she needs to carry around as she is fighting thyroid cancer.

Manny or Immanuel Rajkumar brings sunshine into her life and gives it new meaning. She loves the songs written by an eponymous Abhimanyu Veer and is mystified why he has left one of his songs incomplete. She wants to meet him and ask him about the incomplete song. So what happens? Does she meet Abhimanu Veer? What happens to the Kizie – Manny love story? You would need to watch the movie to know that.

The Cast of Dil Bechara

Dil Bechara is directed by Mukesh Chhabra and written by Shashank Khaitan and Suprotim Sengupta. It is an adaptation of the film, “The Fault In Our Stars”.

  • Sushant Singh Rajput plays the role of Manny or Immanuel Rajkumar Junior
  • Sanjana Sanghi plays the role of Kizie Basu
  • Sahi Vaid plays Manny’s friend JP
  • Saswata Chatterjee plays the role of Kizzie’s father
  • Swastika Mukherjee plays the role of Kizie’s mother
  • Saif Ali Khan does a surprise cameo as Abhimanyu Veer

Our Thoughts of Dil Bechara

It is really difficult to view the movie Dil Bechara objectively in light of the circumstances of its release. The plot of the film combined with Sushant’s death lends a haunting aura to the film. Sanjana Singh does justice to her role and effortlessly transitions from being morose to being bright and happy.

But everyone’s eyes would be riveted on Sushant Singh Rajput as he assays a light, breezy, and happy go lucky character who lives life and relishes each and every moment. Some of the scenes in the movie are eerily premonitory. In one of the poignant scenes of the movie, Sushant Singh teams up with his friend to enact a scene of his own funeral in a church.

The film is sure to leave most people moist-eyed. But finally, the movie is not about death, it is about living life and enjoying it. A movie that is worth watching at least once.
